Module description
This module is about designing, realising, and evaluating the interaction between people and technical systems. Within the module, students design an interactive system and evaluate it with potential users. This is done in the project, which is a central part of the module. In the project, the students work in teams to design and evaluate an interactive system. Through lectures, tutorials, and self-study on the design and evaluation of human-computer interaction and on statistics, students learn about various methods for conducting user studies, and quantitative and qualitative methods to analyse the resulting data.

The study unit Professional Development (0.5 EC) will continue in year 2 (present in all modules 1 through 8). Attention will be paid to elements of the 3 pillars (Exploring, Deepening / Broadening, and Profiling).

Manual enrollment via Osiris is only for Creative Technology students. If you want to enroll, please contact K. Zalewska (k.zalewska-kurek@utwente.nl).
Assumed previous knowledge
We expect students (1) to be able to apply the basic rules of probability and methods of statistics; (2) to be able to program applications by writing and combining algorithms; (3) to be able to take human factors into account when iteratively developing interactive products and to apply appropriate evaluation methods to test the usability of these products.
