- The student is able to propose research questions:
- understand recent scientific developments in the field of embedded systems and in particular within the chosen specialization;
- find relevant scientific papers for a technical problem, read and understand them, and evaluate their significance for the technical problem under consideration;
- analyze technical problems at a conceptual and mathematical level;
- have a methodological approach to requirement analysis, making specifications, and designing concept solutions;
- develop a research plan for a particular technical problem.
- The student is able to design a research project:
- use, explain, and justify adequate research and design methodologies;
- apply theory to the performed project;
- use techniques for interpretation and verification and bases his/her conclusions on results;
- do reliable work with scientific significance.
- The student is able to execute a research project:
- have a critical attitude towards his/her own results, literature, and specialists;
- make an original contribution to the project;
- take initiative (together with the supervisor) to give his/her own input within the research project;
- interact sufficiently with peers and superiors;
- make and execute a project plan.
- The student is able to write a research report:
- write a research report that shows sufficient coherence of content;
- structure the research report and sufficiently present the content (text and figures);
- express argumentation using correct spelling and grammar;
- The student is able to present and defend the research project:
- present the content using sufficient detail to support conclusions;
- logically structure the presentation and use visual aids;
- adequately formulate and express himself/herself as well as sufficiently address the audience;
- discuss and answer the questions asked by the committee.

The Final Project EMSYS is the final part of the Master's degree programme. During this project, you will be required to demonstrate your ability to solve a research or engineering problem. The project must be carried out using the techniques of project management. You will begin by making a project plan in cooperation with your Master’s thesis advisor. Several aspects of the project are defined within the plan, including the assignment, the frequency of interaction with the advisors, the milestones of the project, and the resources and facilities offered by the faculty. You will be required to adhere to your plan throughout the project. It is obviously possible to adjust your plan under certain circumstances and after discussion with your daily supervisor.
At the end of the project, you will submit your Master’s thesis, which must be written in English, and make an oral presentation of your work to the Thesis Committee.
You must register your final project in the Mobility Online system before the start of your master’s thesis project.
