Cursusdoelen
After successful completion of this micro-module, the student will:
  1. Develop intercultural teamwork skills through problem solving with peers
  2. Practice how to collaborate remotely with peers from different countries and time zones
  3. Explain sustainability concepts in the context of nanotechnology
  4. Explain the relationship between sustainability and nanotechnology concepts
  5. Implement sustainability concepts in the nanotechnology domain using life cycle analysis and recyclability aspects
  6. Identify, connect, and categorize the most important sustainability aspects of developing a product using nanotechnology concepts
  7. Using literature, the student will compare their proposition and justify their choices
  8. Compare established products in the literature and assess their relevance for your research.
Inhoud
Sustainable development, clean water and sanitation, and affordable and clean energy are the sustainable development goals of this course. The goals are covered from the nanotechnology point of view and activate critical thinking on how nanotechnology can be made green and eco-friendly within the scope of society 5.0. Challenge progress and opportunities are discussed towards the development of a circular economy. This is an important challenge that citizens of the world must face and join forces working together within a multidisciplinary context toward developing sustainable products. The development of a sustainable product will be based on four critical pillars: (i) water purification, remediation, and reuse; (ii) air purification; (iii) soil remediation; and (iv) energy. The acquired knowledge is practiced using the learned concepts during the development of sustainable products. During product development, life cycle analysis and recyclability aspects will be applied.

The course uses a challenge-based approach, requiring students to work together to solve problems and learn how to collaborate with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and time zones.

NOTE: Please be informed that this course begins at February 13, 2023  and ends at April 21, 2023, which differs slightly from standard modules. This course also includes a significant amount of online learning and collaboration with peers from Tecnológico de Monterrey.
