There are two main learning goals of this course:
- To learn how to design a chemical batch process starting from a lab recipe including the design of the required unit operations as well as to make an economical evaluation of the process based on the base case design
- To learn the basics of a commercial discrete event simulation tool (in this case: INOSIM) and how to connect it to Excel to calculate the key performance indicators and analyse the results in the form of Gantt diagrams etc.
