After successful completion of this micro-module, the student will be able to,
- Explain the basic measurements in the natural sciences.
- Explain relationship between measurements and (discovery of) scientific concepts.
- Analyse more complex measurements in terms of basic measurements.
- Explain the role of mathematics and statistics in processing measured data.
- Design (at an elementary level) a set-up for measurement in engineering or natural science for your own research project.
- Compare (at an elementary level) established research methods in literature and assess their relevance for your own research project.

In this micro-module students will be introduced to measurement methods in natural and engineering science research. By discovering, (critically) analysing and reflecting, and practicing the necessary skills you will gain both an understanding about measurement methods in science and practice these skills for a problem. The micro-module consists of three workshops (4 hours each). In each workshop, theoretical explanations, empirical cases and group discussions alternate each other. Critical thinking, asking questions, exchanging knowledge, analysing, and reflecting are skills that play a central role in each lecture. We close the micro-module with a self-assessment reflection report.
