Objectives
  • Recognize smart mobility technologies and their operational envelopes
  • Appraise the effects of human factors and capabilities of human operators on the smart mobility applications
  • Identify and describe potential smart mobility applications for the safety and experience of road users
  • Relate to and utilize the interdependent factors that influence the governance and policy for the smart transport systems
  • Develop and evaluate smart mobility plans and procedures to improve transport systems


 
Inhoud
The Smart Mobility term envelopes the objectives of making traffic and transport Safer, Accessible and Affordable, Efficient, Environmentally friendly, and Comfortable (SATEC) through information and communication technology (ICT) applications intending to improve the transport ecosystem. While Transport Engineering generally focuses on high-level socio-economic, spatial and environmental aspects of a traffic system, this course will make you familiar with the diversity of (road users') behavioural aspects (such as distraction, adaption, acceptance, trust) at rather an individual level and how these aspects may influence the performance of transportation systems. Insights into the interaction between technology and human behaviour will allow reflecting on the potential benefits and pitfalls of the particular technologies associated with Smart Mobility. In addition to particular knowledge about relevant ITC technology, this course will make you familiar with smart mobility topics such as smart infrastructures, mobility as a service, and governance and policy of smart mobility systems. In short: This course gives a state-of-the-art overview of Smart Mobility and provides the knowledge on relevant technology, human capabilities, infrastructure components, and governance aspects needed to design a better transport ecosystem.
