Aim of the course is to get an understanding of relevant parameters in the movement pattern of running based on inertial sensor technology and to use these parameters in an interactive system to contribute to the prevention of running-related injuries or performance enhancement.
After the completion of this course, the student can:
- Explain the development of running-related injuries, their incidence, and etiology.
- Describe how inertial sensor technology can be used for biomechanical assessment.
- Acquire, handle and process inertial sensor data.
- Interpret sensor data in a sport-specific context.
- Present a prototype of an interactive system based on inertial sensor technology that can contribute to injury prevention or performance enhancement of a runner.
