After completion of this project, students can:
- Construct a working installation that features the interplay between the digital world and the physical world through an interactive data physicalization, integrating course content from module 8 and from previous modules of CreaTe
- Use the design process of Creative Technology to conceptualize and build an interactive data physicalization and to organize project work
- Document the process of conceptualizing and building an interactive data physicalization
- Give and receive constructive feedback for improvement of their work

The central theme of the Hybrid Worlds project is data, both in the physical world and in the digital world. In this project, students build an installation that showcases the interplay between data in the physical world and the digital world. The idea is that data, in the broadest possible sense, after having been brought together from various sources, is being used and processed and finally presented physically and interactively to a variety of senses (of an audience). Knowledge and experience from the tracks Smart Technology and Interactive Media get integrated into the design, implementation and actual building of an installation of data physicalization that represents real-world phenomena. The installation will demonstrate how those phenomena are represented in the physical world and in the digital world, acting either simultaneously or in alternation. Possibilities of interaction or interplay of both domains are explored and showcased. For this project, students work in large groups of 10 - 15 members and it is the last component in the BSc CreaTe program where students work in groups for a project.
Manual enrollment for this module via Osiris is only for Creative Technology students. If you want to take this module as a minor, register for the minor during the minor registration period. If you do not wish to take this module as a minor and are not a Create student, please contact K. Zalewska (k.zalewska-kurek@utwente.nl).
