
After this course, the student:
 The student is able to translate real world problem into a physics/mathematics model
 Student clearly identifies the system and its relevant variables
 Student identifies and discusses the assumptions made
 Student is able to generalize and discuss the limits of validity
 Student looks critically at the end result: is it logical?
 Student is critical on dimensions of variables
 The student can solve 2D Newtonian Mechanics problems
 Student recognizes whether the situation is best addressed with Newton’s second law, conservation of energy, or conservation of momentum
 Student is able to use basic mathematical skills to solve Mechanics problems, i.e. basic algebra and calculus, while using modelling skills
 The student can communicate efficiently about engineering problems
 Student presents the solution in clear and logical steps, with explanation, pictures and freebody diagrams, while using modelling skills
