Cursusdoelen
After successfully completing a case study, the student is able to:
  • Apply mathematical theory of AI to solve a real-world health-related problem.
  • Acquire new skills in the domain of AI4Health independently.
  • Report results in a clear and structured way.
Inhoud
The aim of a case study is to apply the theoretical knowledge that is obtained in courses to a concrete real-world problem. Within this course, various case studies are available. Since case studies connect to
timely real-world problems, the availability of cases is changing over time. An up-to-date list of available cases is available at WEBSITE.

The first part of a case study is to independently study and get acquainted with the application domain. In addition, for some cases it may be required to learn a small part of new theory that is not covered in a
course (for instance, discrete event simulation) and/or to acquire a new skill (programming in a specific language or framework, handling large datasets, …).
The second part of the case study is to solve a problem using a data set that is provided to the student. The result is, for instance, an in-depth data analysis or an algorithm with implementation and
performance analysis.

The entry requirements are different per case study. At WEBSITE these are specified.
The study load for a case study is 2EC. Some cases will require a double load of 4 EC, because they rely
on a larger part of self-study.
