For the electronics part, after this module the student should be able to (more detailed information on Canvas):
  • extend the circuits and circuit concepts of module 3 (LF Electronics) to higher frequencies.
  • include (more) RF-induced parasitic effects in analyses, syntheses and grasp their impact.
  • analyze the stability of oscillating circuits by Nyquist plots and Bode plots of the loop gain.
  • understand the workings of harmonic oscillators and determine their oscillation criteria.
  • understand the very basics of wirelessly transmitting electronics.
  • properly include (models of) antennas in circuit schematics and calculations.
Inhoud
The HF Electronics part of this module builds upon the knowledge obtained in the previous 3 modules and uses knowledge from the (concurrent) Electrodynamics part in this module, aiming at understanding electronics for wireless transmission. These LF electronics content is extended into systems with feedback to create well-behaved stable circuits and well-behaved oscillators. The very first part and the last part of the course aims at (radio frequency) transmitter systems and more complex analog circuits. The material is presented in the form of interactive lectures.
