RemarksPart of module 4 EE
Application procedureYou apply via OSIRIS Student
Registration using OSIRISYes
Aims
You will be able to use Maxwell's classical theory of electromagnetism to describe and evaluate electromagnetic fields and waves produced by electric charges, which are accelerating (leading to emission of electromagnetic waves).
Content
This module part connects to ‘EM Statics’ of EE M3

Electrostatics and magnetostatics are combined in the field of electrodynamics, the mutual interaction of electric and magnetic fields. This forms the basis to understand optical effects and wireless communication. This knowledge will have to be used in the Wireless Transmission Project (other module part) for the design and realization of an antenna that works as well as possible at a suitable frequency (and modulation) within the 50-300 MHz range.

Waves: the wave equation and its solutions;

Electrodynamics: induction, plane waves in free space, radiation, interference, polarization, resonance in cavities, waveguides, transmission lines, phase and group velocity, pointing vector, reflection and diffraction.
Assumed previous knowledge
A sufficient grade for EE M3 Electro- and magnetostatics is mandatory.
