After this course, the student
- understands the role of (mathematical) modelling in the analysis of a phenomenon in the real world
- has hands-on experience with the design and analysis of a model for a particular case
During the first week of the semester, the student performs experiments on a given system, observes the behaviour, and designs a preliminary mathematical model aiming to describe and explain the observed phenomena.|
In the last week of the semester, the student considers the same system and designs an improved mathematical model that describes and explains the observed phenomena better.
