Aims
After this course, the student
  • understands the role of (mathematical) modelling in the analysis of a phenomenon in the real world
  • has hands-on experience with the design and analysis of a model for a particular case

Content
During the first week of the semester, the student performs experiments on a given system, observes the behaviour, and designs a preliminary mathematical model aiming to describe and explain the observed phenomena.
In the last week of the semester, the student considers the same system and designs an improved mathematical model that describes and explains the observed phenomena better.
