Structural Health Monitoring course is a multidisciplinary course, combining materials science, structural engineering and data analytics. The course consists of strengthening and synthesizing key aspects of structural engineering, including, identification of environmental loading on structures, performance modelling of construction materials.
The prerequisite for this course is understanding materials behaviour and structural design of civil structures (e.g. bridges, tunnels, dams), and the problems of structures in usage (deterioration, overloading, fatigue, etc.).
The focus of the group project will be on the application of SHM system to different existing structures and different problems, which will include design of SHM system, selection of sensors, data acquisition, data analysis and validation of the implemented monitoring system.
