Aims
  • Distinguish and describe key factors affecting the energy transition: capturing environmental, social, and cultural (demographic) variability at Global scale using spatial data information systems
  • Appreciate the role of geographic information (technology) for the situated appraisal of renewable energy conversion technologies and satisfying  information needs of spatial planning frameworks in relation to relevant legislative frameworks
  • Develop a basic design of a GIS for the situated appraisal of renewable energy conversion systems using micro of off-grid in a Bottom-of-Pyramid (BoP) setting 
  • Assess the drawback and benefits of situated, location-aware modelling and programming of the energy transition.
Content
  • Introduction to the energy transition: environmental, social, and cultural (demographic) aspects
  • Introduction to spatial data and geoinformation systems for modelling
  • Examples of situated power generation technologies across diverse and heterogenous environmental and cultural landscapes
  • Citizen sciences and participatory energy transition programming
You'll participate in an excursion.
Assumed previous knowledge
Basic python or MATLAB programming.
