This course consists of two parts: Study Trip Preparatory (2 ECTS) and Study Trip Explatory (3 ECTS)

At the end of the Study Trip Preparatory course, the student is able to:
1. Have a basic understanding of the cultural differences between Australia and New Zealand and their home country.
2. Understand the theories of intercultural communication.
3. Apply these theories in research.
4. Design a research plan, collect data and analyse the data gathered regarding Sustainable Development
Goals as part of the theme life and technology.
5. Review reports of country-specific environments and challenges, and their impact on the implementation of
Sustainable Development Goals for these countries.
6. Present and discuss their research results on the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals of
Australia and New Zealand and how these differ from their home country.

At the end of the Study Trip Explatory course, the student is able to:
1. Understand technological innovations related to energy, health care and social robotics and how these innovations and technology influences people’s life.
2. Reflect upon the effects of technology on people’s life.
3. Define a research problem in one of the tracks within the theme of this course.
4. Analyse the existing literature to answer the proposed research question.
5. Present and discuss the results of their research to/with the academic public.
Inhoud
The Study Trip Preparatory course is part of a two-course program aiming at preparing the participants for the study trip “Breath of Technology” to Australia and New-Zealand organised in the academic year 2020-2021.
This course focuses on creating awareness of relevant cultural factors that might affect technological innovations. The students will learn about cultural differences between the countries visited during the study trip and their home countries.

The Study Trip Exploratory course is related to the study trip “Breath of Technology” of Creative Technology and Interaction Technology organised in the academic year 2020-2021.
The theme of this study trip is Life & Technology. This theme is explored in a broad perspective and will cover the following tracks:
1) Marketing: The dark side of persuasion and technology
2) Sustainability: sustainable energy
3) Healthcare
4) Ethics
5) Social Robotics
Participating students will write a research paper deepening their knowledge on one of the topics.

Both courses provide an opportunity to improve the deliverables. However, improving this deliverable results in a maximum grade of 6.0.
