During the IEM study programme students oriented on research topics and personal ambitions leading to a clear view of their master thesis subject and even better a master thesis assignment.
This course facilitates students to write their master thesis proposal, including a plan of approach, that consists of a feasible research question(s) relevant to their master assignment, a brief literature review, a brief description of an appropriate research method, expected outcomes, and a research project planning. The student will be triggered to be able to explain the added value of the proposed research proposal. Furthermore, students will be facilitated to increase their knowledge and skills on the link between research/design question(s), research/design model(s), and research/design method(s).

The course consists of supervised self-study and joint sessions consisting of lecture(s), company visit(s) where the master’s assignment will be executed, presentations and discussions, focusing on the scientific and organizational preparation of the Master’s thesis project. The course is completed by a thesis research proposal approved by the Master’s thesis project supervisor. After finishing this course the student will execute the Master’s thesis project.

- adequately prepare the execution of a scientific Master’s thesis project.
