Focus is on recognizing and solving elementary problems and acquiring basic knowledge of the underlying mathematical concepts. After this course, the participant has:   knowledge of Linear Programming and is able to evaluate Linear Programs knowledge of Integer Linear Programming and is able to evaluate Integer Linear Programs knowledge of Networks and is able to analyse Networks knowledge of Complexity Theory and is able to determine and prove the complexity of a combinatorial optimization problem knowledge of Dynamic Programming and is able to set up and evaluate problems using Dynamic Programming knowledge of Discrete-time Markov chains and is able to evaluate Discrete-time Markov chains knowledge of Continuous-time Markov chains and is able to evaluate Continuous-time Markov chains knowledge of Queueing models and is able to analyse their performance knowledge of Markov Decision Theory and is able to set up and evaluate problems using Markov Decision Theory
