Aims
This course is an introduction to basic probability theory and some statistical techniques.
 
Content
Topics for the probability theory part include sample space and probability measure, combinatorial probability, conditional probability and independence, discrete and continuous random variables, expectation, variance, covariance and correlation, and the central limit theorem.
 
The main topics for the statistics part are confidence intervals and hypothesis testing.

Knowledge of elementary calculus, including (double) integration and geometric series
