At the end of the research methods course students:
- Can reason when and why to choose different research designs
- Have knowledge about phases of the research cycle and the design science methodology
- Can structure a research task based on the phase in the research cycle and the design science methodology
- Are able to perform a structured literature research
- Have knowledge and are able to write a 'methodology section' for different data collection methods (Secondary data, Observation, Interviews, Questionnaires)
- Have knowledge about research biases and research quality assurance for different research techniques

Planning and conducting research entails choosing the best-fitting research design while navigating through different research paradigms. By choosing and planning research activities you are able to systematically gather the ingredients to solve the research problem or design challenge at hand. In the current module you will be introduced to different research designs and research activities. During the lectures you will be provided with information about different methods, while the assignments challenge you to apply this knowledge.
