1. Elicit (stakeholder) information to describe the problem statement of a design project
2. Apply academic principles (i.e. search for literature, write a review) to perform state of the art research
3. Define a research question based on state of the art research and additional design context exploration
4. Apply knowledge and skills acquired during the Creative Technology program in an integrated manner
5. Autonomously develop and refine new knowledge and new skills
6. Work independently and systematically on a large design project
7. Transfer knowledge in a domain specific environment using appropriate communication modalities
8. Reflect from an external perspective (e.g. ethical, societal, environmental, economic) on the potential outcome of their work (e.g. Graduation Project) in a verbal, textual and (optional) visual manner

This study unit consists of the first part of the CreaTe Graduation Project (GP I) and the first part of Reflection I (REF I). The topic of this GP I provides the context of the REF I component.
A CreaTe GP is a design project, where context and goals are set by a client, and supervised by a CreaTe lecturer assisted by a critical observer. GP I focus is on background, literature and state of art research, and the formulation of a research question (with additional sub-questions). GP I concludes with draft versions of the Introduction and State of Art chapters of the final GP thesis, and a presentation about the results of performed research.
The aim of the combined reflection cources is to explore the social and moral significance of design, and especially of one’s own life and work in crafting a better world. Reflection focus on acquiring and then employing conceptual tools selected from the history of ideas and contemporary sciences, including current case studies and current events related to the CreaTe GP theme. REF I is concluded with an essay, which gives students a chance to explore the tools and concepts in a general context, so that they can build on this practice to deliver a stellar essay employing the same materials and methods in the context of their own GP at the end of REF II.
