Aims
Aim of the course is to get an understanding of relevant parameters in the movement pattern of running based on inertial sensor technology and to use these parameters in an interactive system to contribute to the prevention of running related injuries or performance enhancement.

After the completion of this course, the student will have a better understanding of:
  • Running-related injuries, their incidence and aetiology
  • Individual movement patterns (kinetics/kinematics) and how they relate to injuries
  • The effects of fatigue on individual movement patterns
  • The relation between (changes in) movement patterns and injuries and or performance
  • The use of inertial sensor technology for biomechanical assessment
  • Acquisition, handling and processing of inertial sensor data
  • How to meaningfully interpret sensor data in the context of sports
  • Interactive systems based on inertial sensor technology that contribute to injury prevention or performance enhancement
