Content This course gives students an introduction to the structure and function of skeletal muscle systems of the human musculoskeletal system. It discusses the anatomy and (patho) physiology, biomechanics and the underlying ways to measure and analyse movement. The Musculoskeletal system serves as the basis for the exercise of basic concepts, methods and techniques as applied in mechanics. Keywords are free body diagram, statics, dynamics and movement of linked systems. In the end, a number of properties of the musculoskeletal system will be identified, in particular focused on the action of muscles. In several labs and in the project various aspects of the subjects presented are applied. In addition, a number of aspects of health care legislation will be discussed.
