- Analyse a limited-complex scientific problem and translate it into research questions and set up an error analysis.
- Systematically set up, perform and document scientific research (in such a way that the coherence between the components is clear).
- Display experimental skills, such as the use of measuring equipment, selecting appropriate measuring methods, handling equipment documentation, using a computer to control a setup or gather data. Work in a safe and environmentally-friendly manner.
- Process and interpret the results of a scientific experiment, and draw corresponding conclusions.

The Practical is an introduction in performing scientific research, which expands upon the knowledge acquired in module 1. Matters such as formulating hypotheses, translating a problem to measurable variables, carefully planning an experiment etc. are introduced. For the practical execution of the research, a number of technical approaches and experimental skills will be taught, such as the use of measuring equipment, handling equipment documentation and other technical aids. In many assignments, computers are used to arrange and/or gather data. By structurally maintaining a journal, students are taught a systematic approach to research. Error analysis and processing data with MatlabĀ® will be treated in separate tutorials.
