Cursusdoelen
The student can:
  • implement a simulation of the response of dynamical systems in both time and frequency domain using software like Matlab.
  • explain the basics of microcontroller systems, analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue conversion.
  • produce a written report with a style and structure that is sufficient on all points of the reporting rubric. 
  • produce a scientific poster and present this poster to a scientific audience.
  • generate design criteria from a chosen area of application of a product, validate the design using a dynamical systems analysis, verify the design criteria and generate design improvements.
  • keep borrowed equipment in good condition and return it to the university in an orderly and timely way.
Inhoud
In the project `Accelerometer', an acceleration sensor is used to study a mass-spring-damper system. The students design and realize their own accelerometer system. The knowledge from Advanced Engineering is needed for mathematical modeling and analysis of the system. Besides analytical calculations, the second-order differential equation is implemented in Simulink for numerical simulations. The knowledge from Instrumentation is used to realize the electronic readout of the accelerometer system.
