Aims
The student:

a. is able to set up and to conduct a scientific experimental research in a systematic manner and document that research in a (pre)structured log book.
b. is able to make an error analysis on the experiments performed and is able to program simple algorithms and to process measurement results using Matlab.
Content
In the experiments issues are introduced such as formulating a hypothesis, translate a problem into measurable quantities, carefully planning an experiment, etc. When conducting the experiments, a selection of technical methods and experimental skills are learned. In many of the experiments the computer is used for data acquisition, processing and/or analysis. By documention of the work in a lab journal, a systematic research approach towards experimental research is developed.  Other topics encountered are error analysis and programming skills using Matlab software .
