This is a deepening research internship module in the domain of Innovation and Entrepreneurship which builds on the IBA module Innovation and Entrepreneurship or the Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor. The learning goal is to apply the during the previous modules learned fundamental business theories, concepts and methods in a real live research situation. At the end of this module the student is able to:
  • give an accurate description of the internship company/department;
  • identify a gap in the actual and desired performance of the company;
  • formulate a proper research question aimed at closing the gap;
  • apply fundamental business management concepts and/or theories to answer the research question and develop a research framework.
  • adopt a coherent research design and using appropriate data collection and analysis techniques for the validation of the empirical findings;
  • provide a consistent, well-structured and well-argued text.
  • reflect on the personal learning process during the internship;
This deepening internship module in the domain of Innovation and Entrepreneurship builds on the IBA module Innovation and Entrepreneurship or the Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor.
In order for this module to be a true deepening module, the preparation of the internship includes the development of a proper research proposal describing the current problem(s)/challenge(s) at the host organisation, theoretical concepts instrumental for solving/answering those problem(s)/challenge(s) and a decent justification of the proposed methodology, describing the planned data gathering strategy during the internship project. Approval for the research proposal is mandatory in order to start the internship project.

By default the internship is scheduled in block 1A (1st quartile) of the academic year, but it will be possible to do the internship in all blocks/quartiles and during the summer, provided that the preparation started during the Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor in Q1 (for non-IBA students) or IBA Innovation and Entrepreneurship M6 module. For internships (partly) outside Q1 written permission from the educational director needs to been granted (via the study advisor).

Remark: IBA students have the option to do this internship module either as part of their minor or as an alternative programme related elective. In the latter case approval via an individual learning agreement or approved study-planning is obligatory.. It will also be possible for them to do the internship as an extra elective during the summer break.

Obligatory: 2020564/2020565 IBA Innovation & Entrepreneurship M6 (1B) or HTHT minor M9 202000592/202000593 Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor (1A)
