The teaching goals are largely the same as for the TOM module `Finance for Engineers’ in the Bachelor program IEM 202000410, excluding the methodology component. These goals relate to the following four topics
  1. valuation
  2. financial accounting and performance indicators
  3. financial decisions and management
  4. financial markets and option pricing
For a description of the learning goals per topic we refer to the manual of the TOM module. For topic 1 and 4, the learning goals for minor students are the same as in the TOM module. For topic 2 and 3, a lower, elementary level is required if it comes to the ability to apply the concepts is a real world situation.    

The content of this part of the minor is largely the same as that of the TOM module `Finance for Engineers’ in the Bachelor program TBK, excluding the methodology component, and with a slight modification as explained under the learning goals. 

In principle, you will attend all contact hours at the roster of the TOM module except for the part on methodology (and philosophy). For information about rosters, type of contact hours, tests, and exams, you are referred to the manual of this module. 
Assumed previous knowledge
Admission only on individual basis by coordinator master program IEM.
Indication of requirements: For technical bachelor students: basics of statistics and probability, incl. variance, correlation, standard deviation. Basic calculus: derivatives, first order conditions.
For non-technical bachelor students: (relatively) exceptionally strong quantitative background, comparable to first-year IEM bachelor. Indication: secondary school ‘wiskunde B’, 7 EC Statistics and Probability, 6 EC mathematics .
