At the end of the module a student:
- can analyse the effectiveness of different operations strategies and link these strategies to internal performance measurements;
- is able to formulate LP- and ILP- models for appropriate problems and is able to solve an (I)LP- model using a computer package and to analyse the computer output;
- can apply (simple) planning techniques to solve material planning and capacity problems;
- can apply (simple) quantitative techniques for inventory optimization in case demand is deterministic as well as stochastic.

In this study unit students work together in project groups and apply several qualitative and quantitative methods discussed in the OR and OS study units to a number of cases. The content of the cases might change yearly, but each year one of the assignments is about MRP and another one about LP/ILP modelling.
