• recognize and identify psychological communication skills
• apply several psychological theories on interpersonal communication in a writing assignment

Overview overall objectives ACS and CST and their difference:

ACS and CST are both intertwined, because both are about the topic communication, but the focus of both can be distinguished:
  • General knowledge about communication (CST)
  • Perspective taking (theoretical aspects: CST; applying in interaction with others: ACS)
  • Observing (theoretical aspects: CST; applying in interaction with others: ACS)
  • Providing and receiving feedback (mechanisms CST; applying ACS)
  • Reflecting (theoretical aspects: CST; applying in interaction with others: ACS)

The theory study unit is a self-study. The content will be applied during the practicals and tutorials. There is a strong link between the Communication Skills Theory (CST) study unit and the Applied Communication Skills (ACS) study unit. The theoretical background of CST will help your development in ACS. Without any theoretical background, it is not possible to practice communication skills.
