Aims

After the successful completion of the ‘Mental Health in Practice’ study unit, the student is able to:
  1. Describe the two dimensions of complete mental health in a case study.
  2. Critically discuss the latest and/or most relevant insights of the psychopathological and positive psychological approach to mental health, and reflect on the pros and cons of both approaches.
  3. Adapt a positive psychological and a traditional mental health intervention to the needs of a specific patient group.
  4. Reflect on your own and the groups’ vision regarding the place of positive psychology within mental health.
  5. Present the outcomes of your project in a clear and convincing manner.

 
Content

This study unit entails the project of this module. The complete mental health model is central to the Project. The pathological approach will be complemented with the positive psychological approach to mental health. You will reflect in your project group on the pros and cons of both mental health approaches, and you will write a treatment plan for a case study patient. You will close the Project with a presentation. You will present your reflections on both approaches to mental health, and you will present the treatment plan for the case study patient.

Assumed previous knowledge
At least 9 EC of module 2 have been obtained OR at least 21 EC of modules 1 and 2 have been obtained. The prerequisites apply to all three study units within this module.
