Inhoud
General aim of the Bachelor Thesis module
In this module, students will individually design a full empirical research regarding a practically relevant problem setting. The problem setting preferably refers to an actual challenge in society or case study offered by an external organization. The ultimate goal of the bachelor thesis is that students display their gained academic knowledge and research skills in a project, based on which recommendations for practice can be derived.

At the end of the module, students have demonstrated their ability to design, implement, report about and defend a full scale Bachelor Thesis research. During the elaboration of their Bachelor Thesis, student will tap into knowledge and skills gained during previous B-COM modules as well as display the ability to acquire new or complementary knowledge and skills needed to complete their research project.

Outline of the Bachelor Thesis module
The Bachelor Thesis module is a so-called “stretch module”, covering both educational quarters in the second semester of the third year.

Quarter 2A (+/- 5 EC load):
In this quarter the study load will be approximately 5 EC. During the first quarter 2A, students will elaborate a research proposal for their bachelor thesis. During this quarter supporting lectures about the introduction to the module, research ethics and systematic literature searching will be offered.

Quarter 2B (+/- 15 EC load):
In this quarter students will conduct the actual research by collecting the data, performing the data-analysis, reporting about the research and orally defending the research. Supporting lectures and guided self-study about academic and (popular) reporting of a research project will be offered.

Voorkennis
In order to start with the Bachelor Thesis students must have completed all educational units of the first and second year (B1 and B2) of the bachelor COM. After enrolment in the course, the study counsellor will check whether all students meet the pre-requirements. Therefore, if you have any doubts about your study progress in relation to the pre-requirements, please do not hesitate to contact the study counsellor of the bachelor COM (Silvie Pothof).
