Aims

At the end of the study unit, students will be able to…:
(between brackets the number of the corresponding intended learning qualification of the programme)
  1. assess the reliability of this questionnaire using classical test theory and factor analysis (2.4);
  2. test existing and new datasets for relationships between variables (2.4);
  3. perform, interpret, and report on linear regression analyses of any fitting set of numerical variables (2.5).
Content
A large part of media research is performed quantitatively, using surveys. This means that statistical tests are used to describe the relationships between measurable variables. These results are generalized beyond the people who were surveyed. In this study unit, students learn about dataset preparation, factor and reliability analysis, correlation, and linear regressions. Linear models are used to analyze survey data.

This study unit is part of the module Understanding media. Because the four study units, which are part of the module, are highly related to each other it is not possible to follow this study unit separately.
