After passing the course, the student can:
- analyse the motion of a system of masses and rigid bodies in terms of forces, accelerations and velocities
- analyse the motion of a system of masses and rigid bodies using second law of Newton and the principle of work and energy
- calculate the eigenfrequency of an elastically supported rigid body

This is a part of Module 8, ID M8 Virtual Product Development of the Bachelor Industrial Design Engineering. See here for the complete description of this module
The course provides an overview of elementary dynamics. The topic of interest is the two-dimensional motion of (systems of) point masses and rigid bodies. Included are the kinematics, derivation of the equations of motion using the Newton-Euler equations and by drawing correct free-body diagrams, the principles of conservation of linear and angular momentum and energy, derivation of the mass moments of inertia and an introduction to mechanical vibrations.
