Module 4 gives an introduction to the design of so-called smart products. Smart products are physical products that are able to observe the world, to interpret these observations and to give a meaningful & logical reaction. After successfully finishing module 4, students are able to design, to build and to test a smart product (prototype) that is a trade-off between various criteria in multiple domains.
In the module, students are confronted with a large variety of subjects, addressed by four different module components of 2,5 EC each:
- Human Factors
- Application Development
- Electronics
- Design Sketching 3
To immediately apply the knowledge that is gained in the module components, students concurrently execute a 5,0 EC development project in which (one complete working prototype for) a smart product is developed.
In the project, also some ‘basic skills’ are educated that are part of other learning themes in the ID curriculum.
