Inhoud

This is a part of Module 11, Preparation BSc-thesis Civil Engineering of the Bachelor Civil Engineering. See here for the complete description of this module.

In module 1-8 of the CiT-programme students gained domain specific knowledge in the different subfields of Civil Engineering and applied this knowledge in projects using several design and research methods.
In Production of Knowledge the focus will be on questions regarding knowledge production in the field of Civil Engineering. What is knowledge? How is knowledge generated and used and by whom? How may I generate knowledge myself?
Special attention is paid to the following aspects:
  • The central role of models (both conceptual and mathematical) within the different subfields of Civil Engineering
  • The role of actors within the production and dissemination of knowledge
  • The production of knowledge in relation to time and space
