Students are be able to
  • understand the complex and multidisciplinary character of climate change, robotics, healthcare, higher education, labour and/or democracy & decision-making,
  • use scientific or design thinking to analyse (a part of) the future of (a part of) society and/or technology,
  • identify scientific or design problems in the future of one or more of the topics discussed, contribute to solving these problems using the skills and knowledge they have learned in the past modules,
and reflect on their contribution to the future.
In this concluding module of the Shaping the Future track, the knowledge and skills Honours students have gained in analysing the past and the present, will be applied to the future as well.
The frames in which students will use scientific and design thinking to analyse the future are climate change, robotics, healthcare, higher education, labour and democracy & decision-making.
In a series of guest lectures and discussion sessions, students will be broadly introduced to these topics and their multidisciplinary nature, after which they submit a paper in which they identify and solve a scientific or design problem related to one (or more) of the topic(s).
