Aims
Students are able to
- Carry out preliminary analysis and exploration of the problem (context, needs, stakeholders – target group, including literature)
- Based on this analysis, formulate recommendations to solve this problem, e.g.,
- Formulate design goals, construct and evaluate the design OR
- Provide written recommendations (depending on the problem and the preliminary analysis)
- Reflect on these recommendations with input of the stakeholders

After 1 quartile, students have completed the analysis and exploration phase and have developed design requirements or draft written
recommendations. Either type are formatively evaluated with the contact person/stakeholder representative.
In the second quartile, students adjust, develop and evaluate (part of) their design or written recommendations.
This second quartile ends with teh fincal design of written recommendations.

Content
The overall goal for students for Innovation is to be able to understand current problems, and analyze and evaluate potential innovative solutions based
on different perspectives, such as the literature, stakeholder experiences and opinions and expert knowledge; to be able to give recommendations to
the stakeholders within a limited time span.
Students can choose between a design research approach, resulting in a design (and evaluation) as their recommendation to solve the stakeholders’
problem, or a descriptive research approach resulting in written recommendations to solve a problem.
The sessions consist of lectures about the (design) research approach , discussing and selecting cases and working on students’ own case
alternated with progress presentations and (peer) feedback.
