The UN has defined seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), urgent calls for action to face global challenges. In this course you will take these SDGs as a starting point. In a series of workshops, you will study where they come from, what makes them so complex, and how they can drive innovation, globally and locally. You will also develop skills to productively deal with these issues. Guest-lectures will complement the workshops by providing inspiration from academia and practice. Central in this course is a project, in which you will critically assess a SDG of your choice, and define local or regional transdisciplinary innovation projects that can contribute to reaching these goals. Societal leadership means that you are prepared to take the lead in implementing these projects in society, based on insights in stakeholder constellations, technological options, and societal dynamics.
