Modulebeschrijving
Semester 2 is about ‘Energy Transition & Sustainability’. Attention is paid to the working principles of various thermodynamic systems, and particularly to the renewable energy generation and system impact on the environment. Semester 2 comprises various courses and a dedicated semester project and builds up on challenging the students on analysis and designing of a unique renewable power/heat/cold system and assessing its impact on the environment. The students will gain new skills and knowledge on the following technical subjects: Engineering Thermodynamics (supported by Mathematics: Calculus), Design Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, Renewable Energy Technology, Life Cycle Analysis. The technical knowledge and understanding gained in these courses will be utilized in the Project ‘Energy Transition & Sustainability’. Surrounding this, students will work on their Academic and Professional Skills, e.g. in the technical report and presentation, as well as in the reflection to the ethical aspects of renewable energy implementation. For the latter, in particular the actors involved in the building and use of the energy system will be addressed. Finally, all obtained knowledge and skills will be solidified by the course  Continuous Assessment course, which will stimulate the students to refresh the knowledge obtained in the course of Semester 2.  Below you find a semester overview which shows subjects like course, ECs per block, examiners, and assessment criteria with the relations with the Final Qualification per subject.

Please note: This course takes place in Amsterdam and is only accessible for BSc UT-VU ME students.
