Aims
For the practicum part:
  1. Being able to understand, start-up and operate a R&D experimental set-up including the required analysis systems / equipment
  2. Being able to understand and optimize the control loops of such equipment
  3. Having a good basis in laboratory safety
  4. Practice and creating a good level of reporting, storing, and handing-over project data
  5. Recapture of error analysis, and implementing this in the project
  6. Being able to translate a research question into a research plan that contains
    • Experimental plan
    • Theory and modeling
    • Takes into account costs and time constraints
  7. Coming to the conclusions in-line with the measurements / theory / models, taking uncertainties into account
  8. Concise reporting
 
Content

The practicum is carried out in groups and will take place either in the third or fourth period. Reporting of the practicum is done in a PowerPoint and the results are discussed in a closing session with the teacher. Groups contain 4 to 5 students.
