After passing the course, the student can:
- link theoretical concepts on entrepreneurship to a practical case of students’ own choice within sustainable energy sector
- assess and shape an opportunity for a successful business foundation in sustainable energy sector
- choose and apply various frameworks from an initial toolset addressing the development of a business plan
- present their business idea to a panel of potential investors in a convincing and consistent manner.

The overall course objective is to teach SET master’s students the fundamentals of designing a business model and developing a sound business plan within sustainable energy sector.
The course teaches students the basics of business model development in sustainable energy sector. Drawing upon recent academic research findings and practices in the industry, the students develop a business plan themselves. They acquire elementary competencies in setting up a company. These include spin-offs from companies and universities as well as start-ups. The students become acquainted with the content and structure of a business model and business opportunities, managerial issues and technological and economic trends in sustainable energy sector. They apply the newly acquired knowledge and skills to a practical case of their own choice within their sector. The entire course follows a student-centric approach to teaching. The guest lecturers from the industry and start-up consultancies share their business model design experiences with the students.
