Inhoud
The course Advanced Research Methods (ARM) teaches Master students of the specialization 'Human Factors and Engineering Psychology' (HFE) advanced skills in research methods commonly practiced in the field of Human Factors, Engineering Psychology, and Cognitive Psychology. These methods build up on different courses and modules offered in the Bachelor and Pre-Master curriculum such as Module 6, 'Human Factors and Engineering Psychology'. By following the current course students will attain a higher level of research skills that are not only relevant for applied research, but also for fundamental research.
The course ARM offers a broad range of methods, and combines theory and practice. The students will develop the skills by studying the appropriate literature prior to the workshop. Furthermore, HFE students are required to follow in total 40 hours of workshops during which they practice the various methods. The main focus of all workshops is to learn to apply the different methods, which are combined with a theoretical introduction.
Next to the obligatory 40 hours, the student is free to join other workshops that are offered by other specializations. After the workshops, students extend their knowledge by studying related literature and finalize assignments related to the various workshops that have to be delivered in the last week of the quarter.
