Modern topics in condensed matter physics will be introduced and studied from recent literature. After an introductory lecture on the topic, students should deliver an oral presentation on recent literature articles.
The topics are:
- Advanced Spectroscopy using SPM
- Phase transitions @ surfaces
- 2D materials
- Charge transport in low dimensional material junctions
- Reactions @ surfaces
- Functionalized surfaces

Assessment description
The students get an introductory lecture on each of the six topics. For each topic they get recent papers about a selected subject and study these papers. They then present and evaluate in an oral presentation the main findings and conclusion of these papers. They will receive feedback on their presentations. The grades for the presentations determine the final grade.
