1. has scientific knowledge of recent topics in Condensed Matter Physics, and can identify the emerging research in these topics and/or applications 1.1, 3.2

2. is able to interpret, judge, explain and present scientific papers and articles in the field of Condensed Matter Physics; 2.3, 3.5
3. is able to compile the provided information together in state of the art group presentation 3.1, 4.1, 5.1, 5.3
Content
Modern topics in condensed matter physics will be introduced and studied form recent literature. After an introductory lecture on the topic, students should deliver an oral report on recent literature articles.
The topics are:
  1. Advanced Spectroscopy
  2. 2D Materials
  3. Tuneable interactions
  4. Reactions @ surfaces
  5. 1D systems
Assessment
Presentation(s)

Assessment description

The students get an introductory lecture on each of the six topics. For each topic they get recent papers about a selected subject and study these papers. They then present and evaluate in an oral presentation the main findings and conclusion of these papers. They will receive feedback on their presentations. The grades for the presentations determine the final grade.
