The Master Thesis Research Proposal marks the start of the graduation project; a project that culminates with the delivery of the Master Thesis BA. The goal of the research proposal is to support students early in the programme to explore ideas and eventually develop a proposal for the empirical research project (Master Thesis Research Project 201500102). The actual empirical study will then be executed in the final quartile of the programme.
Both a Canvas page and a manual are available to guide MSc Business Administration students towards the successful and timely completion of the graduation project. Please make sure you check the Canvas page and manual which includes information relating to the process of selecting a thesis project, the structure and organisation of the thesis, different types of theses, various steps to be followed in research methodology (i.e. formulating a problem statement, selecting a research design, etc.) and the process of supervision. The thesis assessment procedure is also explained as well as the process involved for the oral presentation, defence and the award of the diploma.
Deliverables for finalising the Master Thesis Research proposal:
- A realistic and relevant research proposal for the Master Thesis (including planning);
- Acceptable version of the methodology chapter;
- Acceptable version of the theory chapter;
Or, the equivalent of the above which according to the examiner defines favourable conditions for starting and finalising the research project on time.
Examination:
Deliverables, as described above, should be handed in before the end of the quartile it is scheduled in (1B and 2B). This deadline can only be postponed if agreed with your appointed supervisor(s).
Students only pass the Master Thesis Research Proposal if all deliverables are assessed as sufficient by the first examiner; 10 EC will then be granted. A pass is required for participation in the Master Thesis Research Project (201500102).
