Cursusdoelen
After successful completion of the course Design of Persuasive Health Technology the student is able to:
  • Understand, explain and apply: Apply Behavior Change Techniques (BCTs), principles of Persuasive System Design (PSD) and User-Centred Design (UCD) methods, to design engaging Digital Behavior Change Interventions (DBCIs) for Health Promotion and care.
  • Reflect academically on choices made (regarding BCTs, PSD, UCD methods) to design engaging DBCIs for Health promotion and care
  • Understand, explain and reflect on the complexity of the eHealth implementation process
  • Apply techniques for rapidly producing prototypes to design engaging DBCIs.
  • Apply formative evaluation methods to evaluate the user acceptance of the intervention.
  • Reflect on skills to work and communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary team
Connection to the work field
As a professional you will often be working in teams, so you have to be able to work efficiently with others. Teams are also becoming increasingly interdisciplinary. Behavioral scientists, engineers and scientists from other disciplines will need to work together to develop strategies for seeding new models with existing theories from different fields. This means that you have to know how to communicate and work with people from different backgrounds in a professional way. This has a lot of benefits, but can also be difficult at times because of different working styles and points of view. In order to achieve a good collaboration, you have to know your own strengths and weaknesses as an interdisciplinary team member. Subsequently you will learn to translate your weaknesses into goals for the future. During this course you will learn to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Inhoud
In this course you will learn how to design engaging technology for real health problems in a multidisciplinary team.

The project assignments are linked to the research projects from our Centre for eHealth & Wellbeing. You will work on your project in a multidisciplinary team. In this assignment team students will design an engaging interactive persuasive health technology intervention, materialized in a video prototype. This prototype is substantiated by relevant literature of behavior change techniques (BCTs), persuasive system design (PSD) and user centered design (UCD) methods.

During this course you will gain insights into possibilities of newest technologies to promote health and wellbeing, such as virtual reality or augmented reality coaching applications and serious games. You will learn how to personalize your intervention for specific target groups and wyou will apply methods to evaluate the user acceptance of your designed prototype. Furthermore, you will reflect on methods used and choices made during the design process and will learn about the complexity of eHealth implementation processes. Both for your own intervention as well as future eHealth technology. Finally, you will learn to reflect critically on your own professional behavior. What are your strong skills, your pitfalls and your future goals while working in an interdisciplinary team?
