Learning goals
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
Relation with the final attainment targets:
1. understand the essence of human-centered design (HCD) processes and appropriate HCD methods; 1.2,, 1.3, 1.4.
2. apply those HCD processes and HCD methods; 2.2, 2.4, 2.5, 3.4.
3. reflect on their validity, reliability, and feasibility in the HCD design processes; 2.6, 2.7, 3.2.
4. apply the different HCD methods in a design project, for designing an app or game to inform, motivate, or persuade end users, which satisfies the needs and wishes of these end users as well as other stakeholders; 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 3.5, 3.6, 4.4.
5. apply the research literature about user experience, usability, and acceptance in a prototype/concept app or game; 1.2, 2.3.
6. apply the research literature about user experience, usability, and acceptance in a prototype/concept app or game. 2.6, 2.7.

In this course we focus on Human-Centred Design (HCD) processes and methods. Starting from an advanced understanding of usability, user experience, and accessibility garnered from recent literature, students will work on designs meant to inform, assist, and communicate with specific target groups.
Students will engage with a range of methods throughout the different stages of a human-centred design process, with the end goal of delivering a concept or prototype app for a group of target users.
The course has a workshop character, requiring intensive team-based participation. Students will iterate on their concept app with knowledge gained from the literature and their own findings researching user groups. Throughout this course, we place the intended user in the middle of the design process to ensure the resulting app will be best suited to their specific needs and abilities.

If their examination board and programme board allows it. Students from the following UT master programmes can follow this course: BA, BIT, CEM, CS, EST, HS, IDE, IEM, ITECH, PSTS and PSY.
