Course objectives
The student will have to prove that he/she meets the objective of the programme which means academic knowledge, understanding and skills in the domain of civil engineering and certain sub-domains of business administration and public administration at a level which qualifies the graduate for independent professional practice and research in civil engineering.

Course Description
Background and context
Details with respect to the Master thesis project are published in MSc-thesis Student Guide which is published on the programme website.
The thesis coordinators of the departments are:
Construction Management and Engineering: dr. ir. R.S. de Graaf
Transport Engineering and Management: prof.dr.ir. E.C. van Berkum
Water Engineering and Management: dr.ir. M.J. Booij
The student should contact the coordinator at least 4-6 months before the start of the project.
The Master thesis project is preceded by the course Preparation master thesis.
Course content
The student will do an individual 5-7 months project in the field of civil engineering. It can either be a research project or a systematic design (of a model, object or procedure). The assignment can be executed at one of the departments of CiT, for example a research project that contributes to a PhD dissertation. The assignment can also be executed externally at a company or an institution. The assignment can be chosen from a list of vacant Master thesis projects of the department of Water Engineering and Management in consultation with the coordinator of the department.
The supervisor is responsible for appointing the thesis committee which consists of at least two members.
